 | Official opening site PamGene endorsed by appointment | | | Den Bosch, NL, May 31st 2001 PamGene, a Dutch based biotech company, today announced the appointment of Anthony John Bartlett (40) as Vice President Marketing. The announcement was made during the seminar "Biotechnology in The Netherlands" organised at the occasion of the official opening of the company's site. Anthony Bartlett "I am inspired by PamGene's entrepreneurship, the growth prospects of the PamChip and the team of professionals it assembled in such a short period of time." Bartlett was Sales Manager Europe of Affymetrix, currently the biggest player in the field of molecular biology testing. Bartlett was responsible for the recent increase in placements of GeneChip analysis platforms within the European region over the last two years. Tim Kievits, founder and CEO of PamGene: "Tony brings in a wealth of commercial experience which will contribute to address the emerging business opportunities. We are a technology expert already with an experienced product development team on board, but we also want to excel as an application expert. He can help us identify our clients' needs in order to customize our application-know-how." Official opening PamGenes site Bartlett's appointment was announced during the seminar at the occasion of the official opening of PamGene's site inside Bosch Medicentrum and the presentation of BioPartner's study "The Emerging Life Science Sector in The Netherlands". More than a hundred (inter)national professionals in biotechnology attended the presentations of keynote speakers. Business opportunities as a start-up in biotechnology was the central theme. About PamGene PamGene is a biotech company which has patented technologies for a second-generation microarray platform and an expression profiling system. The Pamchip allows faster, more accurate and cost-effective test results. The technology will be commercialised in research, pharma-development, health management and industrial fields. PamGene secured a financing round of 6.7 mEur at the end of 2000. Investors were GIMV, ALTA Partners and Life Science Partners. PamGene recently signed a partnership with Olympus. The workforce is expected to grow to approximately 50 in 2002.
