Matched population
Recovery of failed drugs or drugs that were not accepted by the healthcare system on the basis of a cost- effectiveness assessment
Pressure exists for marketed drugs to demonstrate efficacy and safety, and as a result of health technology appraisals, cost-effectiveness.  There have been a number of recent examples where either a drug has not demonstrated enough efficacy in the wider study population or demonstrated efficacy but at a cost that was deemed too high.

The matched population application has the potential to recover the investment in a specific medicine by providing a unique opportunity to match the drug to a clearly definable patient population of likely responders.  Not only would this improve response rates or provide a better safety profile, it would also improve the overall cost-effectiveness.

Recovery of failed drugs by identification and subsequent selection of patients expressing the same target, but in a different cancer disease than the drug was originally aimed for, is enabled.
