Therapy selector
At present, and increasingly in the future, doctors will have multiple registered and reimbursed kinase inhibitor choices available with the same indication, for a range of different cancer types.  This is already the case in chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML), where there are a number of approved kinase inhibitors i.e. Imatinib®, Dasatinib®, Nilotinib®, and further medicines in the pipeline such as Bosutinib®.

PamGene research is underway to validate the concept of selecting the optimal drug, where there is a choice, by providing medical oncologists with valuable data that predicts an individual’s response to each drug option prior to administration.  This therapy selector, in the form of a PamInDx patient profile, guides the selection of likely responders, and prevents non-responders from needlessly having to undergo treatment with a specific drug, thereby avoiding unnecessary side effects as well as lost time.

In addition, the Institute of Medical Technology Assessment, Erasmus University Medical Center, The Netherlands, is undertaking health economic modelling, on behalf of PamGene, to explore the impact of a Matching Medicines approach in CML.
