| The logic behind the PamGene tests: Kinase activity biomarkers as an example |
| Our most important product aims at predicting a targeted medicine’s effects on cells by measuring the activities of tens to hundreds of kinases, extracted from tumor cells or blood cells. The intended effect of targeted medicines is the specific modulation or inhibition of one or more disease related cellular signalling pathway. PamGene’s technology is used to identify the effects at the molecular level where the medicine functions. The best results are obtained by testing tumor cells as they are the most reliable source of information regarding what’s going on within the tumor. This method of testing is combined with the available scientific knowledge on targeted therapies and with clinical outcome studies to discover completely novel biomarkers. These biomarkers are used to develop companion tests for the selection of the patients that benefit most from a targeted therapy. Current companion diagnostics approaches are based on Nucleic Acid or Immunohistochemistry methods. These tests do not monitor the interaction between the medicine and the patients. PamGene’s novel technology adds important functional protein-medicine interaction information to the patient’s file. |
